The Sound Of Her Wings

Sa ibang school, pag nakapasa ka sa subject, “Good job!” lang maririnig mo.

patriciararara:

Sa UP, “Congratulations!” with matching handshake or tight hug pa. Optional din ang iyakan at group hug niyo ng blockmates mo.

P.S.
Iwasang puntahan ang iyong prof sa kaniyang department o classroom para lang yakapin siya. Awkward.

happy first day of march! <3
bio 1. didn’t get to pass an assignment though because apparently i was cutting school absent when it was announced. ‘twas cool though.
comm 100. A-okay. voted in the middle of that with Yna, and the council people stamped a mustache on my left wrist to signify that i’d voted :))
FGUP General Assembly. so so so so soooooo much fun. to continue comm wars, we had a sticky note war that basically involved us chasing one another around the field in front of maskom to try to get sticky notes on other committee members. gianco was so freaking fast, nobody got to stick on him! haha. i was wearing heels today for some stupid reason i can’t remember, so i had to take it off while running around and rolling on the grass on the field. i ended up with two disgustingly dirty feet and a very sweaty face and what were beginnings of rashes on my arms but—damn, it was so so brilliant :D (ps: washed my feet in the washroom, wiped the sweat off my face—or maybe it just dried?—and smothered myself in baby powder all over to “kill” the rashes.) that was the best exercise i’ve had in ages, and i felt like a little kid again. we couldn’t stop laughing even after the game. :”)
covered the elections of the College of Education. basically the lowest point of the day though. i waited for about two hours and walked a few kilometers back and forth to get the results. on the upside, though, i met this amazingly cute funny guy with a nice smile and kind of flirted with him for a while in the building. i got that he was supposed to be a council member but i was too embarrassed to look like a total freshman and ask his name but i found it out anyway. gaaaah he was so so cute. anyway. yeah, reported the election results to the paper and they posted it so it was cool.
i was kind of late for dinner with ethan (yes, we had dinner together) but it was okay. we ate at Manang’s chicken, which i personally did not enjoy all that well but ethan cheered me up unconsciously and…yeah. he’s just awesome—but don’t ever tell him i said that. so yeah. i got home at around 10:00pm after we went out for ice cream. yeah.
it was just a really nice day. :”)

happy first day of march! <3

"All around, leaflets and fliers litter the campus’ hallways and streets. There are more issues and allegations than there are achievements. Questions of candidates’ ability, credibility, and legitimacy put the student body in a rigodon of sorts. We are put in a state of confusion until this very minute. And that ends here.

Clearly, we are lost. It has become harder and harder for us to distinguish fact from fiction and it has become even harder to choose who to vote.

But why do we vote in the first place?

We elect our leaders not so they can use their positions for purposes not known to us. We elect our leaders not so they can count their numbers in the University Student Council, in the respective College Student Councils, in the General Assembly of Student Councils, or elsewhere. We elect our leaders not so we can ‘let them do their thing’. They are leaders, and leaders lead. They lead by example, not by resistance. They lead by their conviction, not by condemnation. And we, follow. We follow not because these ‘leaders’ have credentials as long as Santa Claus’ list, but because we have confidence in them. And when we don’t know who to put our trust and confidence in, we trust ourselves.

Why am I saying this?

UP politics is BAD. If I may, it is even worse than Philippine politics (even they have some sense of collegiality, decency, and breeding). It is bad because we have resort to voting for the ‘lesser evil’ where there is none. This is not an excuse. UP is in need of a damn good leader, one who fits the qualifications YOU have set, and not by your immediate society. UP is in need of a leader YOU, as an individual, can put your trust in. Only through this can we really have a genuine leader.

If you’re unsatisfied with the past leadership, you have every right to demand for something better. If you are disenchanted by what we have now, speak up. Why? Because, as Alexander L. Lacson would put it, “We are all part of the problem… But the good thing is, we are also the answer. We are also the solution.”

So on, 1 March 2012, go out and vote. Vote for yourself. Vote for your friends. Vote for your classmates and your colleagues. Because when you do so tomorrow, you’re not empowering these candidates, you are empowering yourself. This is why MY vote is for ME."
Raymund Margallo, 2011 UP College of Education Chairperson

siestaaa
the superamazing Elev80s concert by the up pep squad. just so freaking amazing! the bon jovi and tina turner numbers were so sexy i can’t even. the skit with the tiger and the archer was so freaking hilarious i nearly fell of my seat =))
dinner and four-hour long hangout with sharmae! missed her so much <3

reasons i’m happy today:

notes during Meeting De Avance:

cramped bodies and judging eyes and microphones blasting feedback. smiles, smiles, persuasive gestures and nods, big words. color codes and catchy names and winks. placards and rhythmic cheers. hearts—really?—stamped onto sleeves and people fidgeting in seats, fighting jitters. hoots and laughter and loaded silences. defensive tones and accusatory glances and trying to decide between being subdued or being provoked. insults in connotations. wordy speeches. i promise. vote wisely. vote for me.

"Hoy girls, wag kayong kukuha ng boyfriend dito sa UP. Pare-parehas tayong mahirap dito. Kumuha kayo ng mayaman. 80% of the child’s intelligence comes from the Mother naman eh. Kayo guys, wag kayo kukuha ng bobong babae. Kahit matalino kayo, magiging bobo anak niyo." Heard from a UP Diliman professor =)))
